The technology for controlling light scattering using holography was developed by Professor YongKeun Park from the Department of Physics at KAIST and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Spectroscopy Laboratory. Using this technology, the observer can see objects clearly through obstacles such as fog and smoke.

On May 22, the KAIST Manner Seminar was held by the Undergraduate Student Council and the KAIST Leadership Center at the Creative Learning Building (E11). Mi Sun Lee, the manner instructor for KAIST undergraduate freshmen and the speaker of the seminar, outlined the effects of manners and etiquettes on a person and gave advice on how to develop and sustain socially acceptable behaviors.

On May 9, Visiting Professor Young Sik Shin from the Division of Ocean Systems Engineering conducted a series of underwater explosion experiments on a model ship in a quarry located in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do. The research team’s main interests were the whipping response, which can sink the vessel with relatively small forces utilizing resonance, and the high-speed bubble jet.
