To suppress the spread of COVID-19, the KAIST administration decided on March 12 to extend the period of online classes indefinitely, until the situation improves. Consequently, classes that rely heavily on physical meetings, such as sports classes, have to be canceled or altered. On March 16, the Academic Registrar’s Team announced that the Golf, Dance Sport, Badminton, Swimming, Advanced Swimming, and Tennis classes had been canceled. Meanwhile, the Basketball and Soccer and Futsal classes are replaced by Fitness Promotion. Students registered in these classes will retain their classes; however, the course instructors will teach Fitness Promotion instead. Ballet Fit, Core Exercise, and Fitness Promotion classes are maintained and will be conducted online.

Classes in the Industrial Design department have been canceled this semester, along with most sports classes

In addition, two courses from the Department of Industrial Design, Basic Design (ID212) and Interactive Product Design (ID301), will not open this semester. This decision was made because important activities in these courses, model-making and prototyping, will be difficult to carry out remotely. They will instead be offered in the upcoming summer semester, starting on July 6 and ending on August 21. Class orientation is scheduled to be held a week before the start of the class. Further details about the summer classes will be notified in the future.
