Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the summer semester dormitory application will be conducted differently from usual. Students already staying in dormitories during the spring semester — international students who arrived in Korea before March 25, and Korean students who have received permission to stay — only need to send an email to the Student Life Team to extend their stay over the summer; no extra permission is needed. Students will be reassigned to their spring semester room, with the exception of students residing in the first and second floors of Sarang, Somang, and Areum halls, which will be used by summer camp participants. Those students will be randomly allocated to one of the rooms occupied by one person.

Other students are only allowed to do additional check-in if there is a valid reason, such as taking an offline course, and permission from the COVID-19 Response Task Force is necessary before they can use the dormitories. Students who are on a temporary leave of absence during the spring semester will not be allowed to apply for summer dormitory use.

The summer semester dormitory operation period will last from July 6 to August 21, a shorter time period compared to previous semesters due to the two-week delay of the start of the spring semester. As such, students planning to use the dormitory in summer only need to pay the fee equivalent to 1.5 months.

Additional changes to the dormitory system regarding the fall semester have also been announced. Students who move out of dormitories in the middle of this semester and next semester without a change in academic status will not be allowed to apply for dormitory use next year. During dormitory reallocation, the new system will assign students to a random room in the same dormitory or with the same room type to reduce unnecessary movements. Dormitory fee refund will now be given on the 15th of every month, as a stipend or consigned research fund. Lastly, 170 out of 252 two-person rooms in Munji Dormitory will be assigned as one-person rooms, due to the lack of availability of single rooms compared to a large demand for them.
