The committee for educational curriculum announced on November 28 that the fifth 2014 educational curriculum was to put in effect immediately. This was the fifth time the committee decided to change to the curriculum – a change that is expected to last until the end of this semester. The undergraduate departments that are undergoing changes in their syllabus are the Department of Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Bio and Brain Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences.

In the Department of Chemistry, in order to promote laboratory-based research, more rigorous research courses have been set. The course entitled “Chemistry Education Training” will be opened as part of an individual research program next semester.

In the Department of Biological Sciences, the Bio and Brain Engineering course “Anatomy and Physiology” will be deleted from the list of Biological Sciences Major Elective courses and will instead be considered as a Free Elective, starting from the spring semester of 2015 This is different from the current system that makes the courses “Biomedical Statistics” and “Bioinformatics.”

In the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering, master’s students will not be given credit for the Major Elective course “Bioengineering Senior Project”, which will only serve the undergraduate program.

In the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the new course “Energy Geotechnology” will be added to the list of subjects, and ten courses, including “Solid Waste Management & Soil Remediation” and “Groundwater hydrology and containment transport” will be changed.

In the Department of Mechanical Engineering, four courses, “Systems Automation,” “Advanced Computer Graphics,” “CAE system,” and “CAD/CAM”, will be deleted from the syllabus..

In the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, the courses “Chemical and Biological Product Design” and “Optimal Design and Economics” will be changed to “Techniques of Process and Product Design” and “Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Capstone Design Project”, respectively.

In the Department of Materials Engineering, five courses will be changed; in the Department of Industrial Engineering, three courses will be changed; in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, four courses are to be added, three courses changed, and three courses deleted.
