The newly launched Let’s Focus campaign aims at improving students’ concentration in class through limiting their use of cellphones. Developed by the IT Convergence class and once called Lock and Lol, the Let’s Focus application locks the user’s phone once the user enters a ‘study room’, may it be an actual class or a study group which can be created by users. While locked, the user may only accept incoming calls and listen to music, but until the user unlocks the phone, no other functions can be used. Although it does not seem too different from other anti-distraction applications, the Let’s Focus application boasts a distinguishing feature: location recognition. Once connected to the school Wi-Fi, the application can find nearby study rooms according to where the user is connected. Also, if the user attempts to connect to a study room when the user is not near that study room, the user will not be able to connect to that particular study room. Currently, the campaign has four events going on; one of them is exclusive to the freshmen. The first event gives 5000 KRW worth of café gifticon to the first few users who reach 20 hours on the application and to people who have continuously used the application. The second one gives free coffee to five random classes that had the highest average time on the application. The third event gives prizes to those who submit a humorous or moving episode that occurred when using the application. The last event, which is exclusive to the freshmen, is a competition between the Exciting College Life classes. The top classes with the most total time on the application will receive free pizza. The application can be downloaded through Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
