Another professor has been added to the growing list of KAIST faculty members to win the Sangnam Business Research Award. Professor Minhi Hahn of the School of Management Engineering at the College of Business was presented as the 22nd winner in the history of the award on February 23 in Seoul. As the most prestigious recognition bestowed by the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration (KASBA), it acclaims one outstanding scholar in the field of business and management every year.

KASBA was founded in 1956 with the intention of promoting business-related research in Korea, and using the resulting academic studies to aid the growth of local businesses and the national economy. To this end, it commends accomplishments in the field through awards like its yearly First and Best Company Award and the Sangnam Award. Among previous winners of the Sangnam Award are Professor Jin-Joo Lee in 2004 and Professor Ku-Hyun Jung in 2011, who were both KAIST members at the time.

Professor Hahn’s research focuses on the relationship between marketing communication and customer choices and satisfaction. He has been a faculty member of the College of Business since 1989. Throughout the years, he oversaw more than 21 doctorate and 203 master’s students, and made a mark, both locally and internationally, by publishing more than 51 papers. In addition, Professor Hahn has previously held positions of power by serving as the dean of the College of Business, the president of the Korean Marketing Association, and the president of the Korean Society of Consumer Studies. In the present day, he is a board member on the strategic committee of the College of Management at the National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan.

In response to the announcement of the 22nd Sangnam Award, Professor Hahn said, “I am pleased to receive this award on behalf of the people who are working for the development of Korean business administrations. I will do my utmost to support younger scholars to continue their meaningful research.”
