31 undergraduate students have been ratified as members of the Emergency Response Committee (ERC), I-Eum, that replaces the Undergraduate Student Council (USC) this semester. With the Central Executive Committee’s approval, the responsibilities and roles of the ERC immediately come into effect.

Following the disqualification of the candidate party Saero from the 2019 USC election (see page 4 for more details), another semester without an official USC was inevitable. This is the second consecutive semester with a lack of a USC, after the impeachment of Batchim last fall.

In accordance with Article 83 of the KAIST USC Constitution, at least one member from each department, Undergraduate Student Clubs Union, and Freshman Student Council are required to form an ERC. After a period of open applications, a total of 31 students were approved to be the members of the ERC for this semester during the 5th Central Executive Committee meeting held on April 1. Chairman and vice-chairman, who hold equivalent authority to that of the president and vice president of the USC, are Joon-Seok Lee and Jeho Jin, respectively.
