The first lecture in the KAIST Renowned Lecture series, "Finding a road in the future of information," took place at the AMP Hall in KAIST Dogok campus on October 12, with following lectures scheduled for every Wednesday until December 14 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The lecture focused on the topic of "future of information," such as complex system networks which are used in analyzing the economy, society and politics; genes, the most popular subject in medical science and bio engineering; and cryptology, used in uncovering and understanding the matrix around us. 
The lectures are co-hosted by KAIST and Science Books, a company dedicated to publishing science books for the public. The lectures are designed to share cutting-edge science research results with audiences who have an interest in science.
 
Professor Hawoong Jeong of the Department of Physics will give the first lecture of the series, followed by Professor Dongsup Kim of the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering and Professor Haewoong Lee of the Department of Physics. The professors will give lectures for three weeks each for a total of nine weeks. 
 
After the nine weeks of lectures, the tenth week has Professor Jaeseung Jeong of the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering hosting a session where all the lecturers meet and talk about why information is important nowadays, how it affects our lives and how the upcoming information society will be. 
 
Professor Jeong said, "the professors giving the lectures will help the audience understand complex topics in science and technology by using easy terminologies and giving lots of examples," and "anyone interested in the lecture topics will have the opportunity to increase their knowledge."
KAIST and Science Books confirmed that they will continue to hold the KAIST Renowned Lecture series as planned.
