In an effort to better communicate with faculty and students, President Nam Pyo Suh will visit each department and hold meetings with professors starting from March 2. Also, President Suh conducted a series of meetings with the students until the Commencement 2011 Ceremony day on February 24 for a total of ten times, with ten students participating in each meeting. The first meeting was held on February 3 in President Suh’s office. President Suh has previously conducted meetings with the students, and this was the third of such meetings.

The first meeting was held on December 13, 2011 with a total of 30 students including the newly elected Undergraduate Student Council and other student representatives. President Suh proposed that the school, mainly the President and the students (especially the Student Council) should meet regularly for better communication between them. The new Undergraduate Student Council President Dohan Kim agreed on the matter and suggested that both parties work towards making a better and happier university.

The second meeting was on January 1 to console students spending New Year’s Day in dormitories instead of going home or visiting relatives. Students who wished to participate could sign up online on the KAIST Portal website, and 20 undergraduate students spent the morning with President Suh eating tteokguk (sliced rice pasta soup), and traditional Korean cookies.

During the third meeting on February 3, President Suh commented that for the last 5 years, the school went through many reforms that needed progressive leadership, but he is now focusing on shared leadership for better communication and understanding to create an environment for the new reforms. He also went on to say that he will try to communicate better with KAIST members under the new leadership.
