With a month into the semester, it is most likely that students have all managed to have their class and lab schedules settled. For a number of students, this is when they begin to look for extracurricular activities to help balance out the stressful and hectic academic life. Thus, it comes as welcoming news that this semester, in continuation of their previous success, the Daeduk Hanbit Church Culture School will be sponsoring an Autumn Culture School right on the KAIST campus. Featuring a variety of special culture classes held at different hours and spread throughout the week, this eight-week session hopes to accommodate even the busiest of KAIST students.
Similar to last Spring, the school will continue to offer Korean Arts and Crafts program this semester. Four different art forms will be introduced, including napkin craft, Korean paper craft, embroidery, and quilt craft. Throughout the courses, students will learn to appreciate the modesty and subtlety of Korean art and more importantly, will be encouraged to incorporate their creativity and personal aesthetic into their own work. The four topics will be covered separately from Monday through Thursday and thus, students have the freedom to register for as many or as few classes as they wish. Apart from these traditional arts and crafts classes, students will also have the choice to participate in a Choi Kwang Do Martial Arts program for the first time this semester. Developed by one of Korean revered Grandmasters, Choi Kwang Do practice has been proven to be one of the most effective martial arts systems for self-defense and enhancing one’s well-being. The greatest thing about Choi Kwang Do is that students of any age and body type can learn and benefit from it both physically and mentally. Classes will be held in the International Center Multipurpose Room every day at 7 p.m.
For all those who are interested, free registration is available from September 25 and will continue until late October. For further information, contact Doctor Minho Chung at mxc865@hanmail.net. Autumn Culture School 2013 is an opportunity to enjoy a healthier and more exciting college life.
