Between February 7 and 14, used books were entrusted to the temporary Book Market held by the KAIST Student Welfare Council, an event at which the books were sold to the student body with no commissions. The Book Market was held on weekdays between noon and 1 p.m. in front of the post office at Student Center-2.

Despite being held for two days less than originally planned, many students participated in this event and many books were sold. In fact, of the 860 books, about 500 were sold. If you wish to find out whether or not your books have been sold, visit http://welfare.kaist.ac.kr/bookmarket for verification.

The payments for books that were sold as well as the leftover unsold books will be available for return starting Monday, February 21, to Friday, February 25, during office hours. Please visit the KAIST Student Welfare Council Room to pick up any items that belong to you. The Student Welfare Council would also like to note that if you decide to donate your unsold books, they will be contributed to the school library.

As for the Council’s plans for the upcoming month, the hoodie business will be carried out starting mid-March. Due to a rise in the price of fabric from last year, as well as the Council’s desire to change the hoodie design, exact dates for the sales of the hoodies have not been decided. Nonetheless, the Council will be taking orders for KAIST hoodies soon and if possible, the hoodies will be distributed to students before the start of the midterm period.

During MTs and school events, the Welfare Council lends out rental items. Please go to welfare.kaist.ac.kr/rent to make a reservation and visit the Council’s office to pick up your items. The rental items include burners, hot grills, Kocher (portable cooking materials such as pots and pans for camping), mats, tents and other such supplies. There is a rental charge for some of the items, so please bring a deposit, a means of identification, and rental payment with you. If the items are overdue, overdue interest will be charged. Please keep the return date for other students may need the items.
