In the summer of 2014, KAIST became host to a business/entrepreneurial student conference called Bizworld, which also acts as a bilateral student exchange program initiated by the KAIST International Student Association (KISA). Not only does the program aim to promote entrepreneurial spirit, but it also offers an opportunity for the constituent universities to create professional networking among themselves and for the participants to forge long-lasting friendships. So far, Bizworld's network is limited to Asian - Pacific universities including Peking University, National Taiwan University, University of Tokyo, National University of Singapore and University of Queensland, but KISA is hoping that the society can become a platform for participants worldwide, not just for those in Asia.

The participants spent the first day indulging themselves in seminars given by several experienced business experts in South Korea. One notable speaker at the event was Joonpyo Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Enswers America and one of KAIST's successful alumni. He recalled the time when he started a company as a graduate fresh out of college and explained the difficulties he faced and how he resolved those issues along the way. These seminars were followed by a series of ÒworkshopsÓ where the participants were sorted into groups. In these groups, students discussed and prepared for the Business Case Tournament later on, where by they were required to form a business plan to commercialize two of KAIST's very own technologies the OLEV and the Armadillo T.

The event was not only confined to academically intensive activities; the students were also sent on a trip to the city of Gyeongju, one of Korea's cultural hubs, where they were able to strengthen their ties with each other. The participants got the chance to appreciate the rich culture of the area and paid a company visit to POSCO, a multinational steel-mill.

The next Bizworld event, named BizJapan, will be held this December in the University of Toyko, one of the universities in Bizworld's institutional network. Those who are interested in joining the Bizworld Organizing Committee will have to apply before September 29 by contacting the directors via email (bizworld.kaist@gmail.com) or by phone (010-6501-2393).
