It has been over a year since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Korea, and since KAIST announced that classes will be held online indefinitely. KAIST has been relatively unscathed in terms of infections on campus, with a total of six until now. The first confirmed case was reported on December 11, 2020, and since then, there have been two cases in December, one in January, one in February, and two in March. The most recent case on March 13 was a member who was classified as primary contact of the fifth case, which was reported on March 10. However, thankfully, none of the cases led to mass infections on campus despite many concerns over it. Most of the infected members resided outside of the main campus, and while some of them visited school cafeterias such as Kaimaru (N11), Pulbitmaru (N12), or the East Cafeteria (E5), there was no significant spread of the virus.

Students on campus are asked to adhere to safety precautions in all school facilities and transportation modes. Those who have cough, fever, and difficulty breathing should seek medical assistance quickly. Before seeking medical help at a public hospital, call 1339, the KAIST Task Force (042-350-0123) or your local health center to report your symptoms.
