According to Junghye Shin, the KI House Coordinator, the motivation behind moving lies in establishing smoother communication between KI House and International Scholar and Student Services (ISSS). Although KI House operates as a part of ISSS, collaboration and event planning were often hindered by the fact that the two organizations were located in different parts of the campus. From now on, both of the offices will be in the same building.

Founded in 2004 under the motto “Let Koreans and foreigners be good friends,” KI House provides a cozy and friendly resting area for international students and assists them in exploring and adjusting to Korean culture. The organization offers 1:1 Korean classes and TOPIK preparation classes by certified volunteer teachers. The classes are conducted both in-person and remotely.

In addition to the language programs, KI House holds various events, such as Korean speech contests, guitar classes, international bazaars, and food festivals, and involves international students in Korean national holiday celebrations. For the upcoming Hangeul Day, students are invited to participate in the Korean calligraphy event. To register for classes or events, please visit KI House or contact Shin at joongh@kaist.ac.kr.
