The newly established North Dormitory Support Center (N12-1) completed construction this spring and began operation on July 1. Ever since the N12-1 building began to be constructed, many students have wondered about its exact use. As a dormitory support center, it collectively manages the six male dormitories on the northern area of the campus, which include Sarang Hall (N14), Somang Hall (N16), Seongsil Hall (N17), Jilli Hall (N18), Silloe Hall (N20), and Jihye Hall (N21). Areum Hall (N19), the only female dormitory at the north of campus, will be managed independently by a female dormitory head.

According to the Student Life Team, the main reason behind establishing the joint management facility was due to operating expenses. The cost of living in dormitories has not increased for students in the past 10 years despite the general rise in prices for other commodities, but with continued maintenance and remodeling, increasing labor cost was a burden. Under the new management system, the number of supervisors can be reduced by half, from 18 to nine.

Currently, some dormitories have a supervisor while others do not. By next January, all supervisors for individual male dormitories in the north side of campus will move out. Instead, three supervisors will work per shift (day, night, and off-duty) in the North Dormitory Support Center. The supervisors will take over the role of current dormitory supervisors, and will be responsible for duties such as check-in and check-out of students during moving periods, organizing delivery packages, patrolling, COVID-related works, and restricting visitor access. With this change, students would have to call or visit the office during emergencies rather than being able to reach the supervisors directly. Other options are contacting the campus police or 119.

For dormitories on the west side of campus, a West Dormitory Support Center for Nadl Hall (W4-2), Galilei Hall (W3), Heemang Hall (W4-4), and Mir Hall (W6) will be constructed between Nadl Hall and Galilei Hall by next year. Other dormitories such as Sejong Hall (E8), Munji Hall, and Hwaam Hall in the Munji campus will be managed on their own due to their locations.
