The Art & Research Gallery at the College of Business in Seoul is currently hosting the first exhibition of Father Kim En Joong, a world-renowned master of stained glass, called “Message de Lumiere”. Father Kim En Joong was appointed as a distinguished visiting professor of the Department of Industrial Design in August 2022. Since then, he has been focusing on stained glass works: one of his ongoing projects is designing the ceiling of the Academic Cultural Complex (E9) with stained glass.

The exhibition, which runs from March 16 to December 29, features over 60 different pieces of artwork, including paintings, LED lighting works, and ceramics, showcasing the depth of freedom and primitive beauty under the theme of “light”. Father Kim En Joong looks forward to enriching the students’ experience and touching their hearts with his artistic and sincere work. He has been exploring this goal through his art for over 60 years as both a priest of the Dominican Order and an artist. This art exhibition was organized to promote the KAIST art project “Campus Gallery”, which utilizes the campus as an exhibition space to strengthen bonds between the KAIST community and other various members of the society.

In addition to the exhibition of Father Kim En Joong, various artistic activities are underway as an initial foundation of the KAIST Museum. From February, “FLOWER” by KAIST media artists Seung Baek Shin and Yong Hoon Kim has been displayed on the Media Wall of the College of Natural Sciences, hosted by the KAIST Art Museum and College of Natural Sciences. Furthermore, every department will collaborate with the KAIST Art Museum to hold special guest lectures. Photographer Ki Ho Park and architect Hyo Sang Seung will be invited to the Seoul campus; fashion designer Hye Jin Hong, hospital director Sang Heum Park, and graphic designer Chae Ri Jeon will visit the Daejeon campus during the spring semester. It is expected that the diverse experiences offered by experts from different fields outside of engineering will bring vitality to KAIST members.
