In light of the recent developments in ongoing and proposed construction projects at KAIST, the 34th KAIST Undergraduate Student Association (KIND) has released an update on the construction schedule as of October 2023.

Buildings currently under construction include the Meta-Convergence Building, KAIST Art Museum, KRAFTON Building, and Smart City Engineering Center. The buildings will be located between the Applied Engineering Building (W1-2) and Student Center (W2), adjacent to the Academic Cultural Complex (E9), on the right side of the Information & Electronics Building (E3-1), and between W1-2 and Geotechnical Centrifuge Testing Center (W16), respectively. The Meta Convergence Building is projected to be completed by December 2023, while the KAIST Art Museum, KRAFTON Building, and Smart City Engineering Center are set to be finished by December 2024.

One of the more significant projects is the ongoing renovation of undergraduate dormitories (Silloe Hall, Jihye Hall, and Jilli Hall). The project costs a total of 4.5 billion KRW, funded by 3 billion KRW in donations and 1.5 billion KRW in self-funding. The project’s timeline has been modified with the completion of Silloe Hall and Jihye Hall originally planned for September, but now extended to November. The remodeling of Jilli Hall is scheduled for the winter break.

Recent completions include the renovation of W1-2, the Analysis Center for Research Advancement (W8-1), and the construction of Northern Tennis Courts near the stadium (E17).

Planned future projects include the construction of the Meta Convergence Building for the Elderly, the Advanced Science Animal Experiment Building, the LOTTE-KAIST R&D Center, the LOTTE-KAIST Design Center, and the Institute of Innovative Medicine. Additionally, there are plans for the expansion of the Department of Aerospace Engineering Building (N7-5), the Creative Learning Building (E11) in commemoration of KAIST’s 50th Anniversary, the Department of Biological Sciences Building, and the 5th floor of the Creative Learning Building (E11) for the Meditation Science Research Institute. Furthermore, the establishment of a parking tower in front of the stadium (E17) and the remodeling of the Munji campus are underway.
