There’s no better distraction to final preparation than planning for the Christmas holiday. If you have the food, drinks, and movies to enjoy ready but haven’t yet decided where to enjoy them, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s your all-comprehensive recommendation list for Christmas go-tos.

Alohomora

Freshly open in Eoeun-dong, this Harry Potter-themed bar is the place you should check out this Christmas. From its interior design to cutleries, every element of this space is tailored for Potterheads with their yet-to-be-realized childhood dream of mingling with other wizards and witches. And if you know, you know — winter is the best season to get a taste of it. The menus at Alohomora also stimulate nostalgia — Butterbeer, the Forbidden Forest salad, and Dobby’s beef stew are just a few of them. Enjoy a thematic celebration here if you’re staying at KAIST during the holidays.

2023 Sejong Light Festival

From December 2 to December 31, Sejong City is hosting a light festival with media facades, light architecture exhibits, and laser shows. There will also be food trucks and busking performances during the weekends, as well as a four-day Christmas market from the 22nd to the 25th. It only takes one short bus ride from Daejeon to Sejong, so if you are seeking a large-scale, picturesque Christmas celebration near Daejeon, pay a visit to Sejong, preferably during the weekends.

SIMMONS Terrace

SIMMONS would be a familiar name for television enthusiasts. You might be surprised that the reputable bed-making company, which has become the symbol of unwavering comfort in South Korea, owns a nearly 5000 square meter-wide cultural complex in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.

SIMMONS Terrace hosts diverse cultural experiences like exhibitions, select shops, and furniture displays. In the winter, the huge Christmas tree installed in the open space and the winter-themed decorations indoors attract people from all over South Korea despite it taking more than an hour from Seoul to reach there.

Inside the SIMMONS Terrace are also a cafe and a grocery store, and right next to it is the famous Termeden, a hot spring spa resort. If you are looking to escape Daejeon for several days during the holiday and make wintry memories somewhere far away, perhaps plan a trip to Incheon.
