Over the years I have been exposed to various works of literature, the "writing" of which has caught my attention. Writing has been one of those arts that have been passed on through generations but I am afraid to look at the transitions that it has been making through these generations. Writing has been a passion for erstwhile writers whose only intention was to pen down their emotions. Many writers these days, however, care only about selling their books for which they follow mostly foul means that destroy the basic essence so often missing in today's literary works.

For me, writing means desire. A desire that has the feelings of a body and soul and that can be felt by anyone who understands them. Over the years, writing has become an integral part of my life, whether I write a short diary entry or a news article. I always poured my heart into it rather than relying on artifices of the mind. Writing has always given me that freedom of expression which otherwise wouldn't have been possible. Writing not only requires a peace of mind but also demands the commitment of the writer. It is not easy for a new writer to feel the urge of writing or to attain a lucid style of writing. The saying "Practice makes perfect" holds true even for writing.

One of the greatest advantages of writing is that it shapes and improves your overall personality. When I say "overall personality," it includes the mind, body and soul. It is very easy to identify the effects of writing on your personality. Firstly, when you start to pen down your feelings, there would be many instances during the process when you either feel comfortable and happy or uncomfortable and awkward. If you are seriously passionate about writing, then you immediately start looking into those parts of your writing that have made you feel uncomfortable. In the process you get to learn a lot of things about your personal life that you would not have otherwise, as your writing reflects your life. In this way writing influences your mind, body and soul. Once you feel comfortable with writing, it signifies that you have shaped yourself well enough to be confident in what you do, which is very important for any individual.

For me, writing has always helped me to understand not only myself, but also others. Over the years many people have read my articles and given me feedback for me to improve. In this process I can clearly get to know the mindset and views of others towards me. Sometimes it so happens that you feel very uncomfortable with some of the feedback that you receive, but when observed closely, they reflect the other person's mindset, and sometimes leads to some shocking revelations which you might have otherwise never thought of. All these and many more have quenched my thirst for writing and made me a writer whose work has always reflected the feelings of body and soul.

Writing was, is and will be a passion for me throughout my life, as it accentuates not only my personality but also the outside world, which is very important for the survival of a writer with desire. Finally, if you have felt the kind of urge that I had to pen down in this article, it is most likely that you and I share some common traits about writing which can be felt but not seen.
