On September 11, KAIST Happy Campus Campaign was held at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Creative Learning Building (E11). Organized by the Student Life Office and Health Care Center of KAIST, the campaign was arranged to promote healthy lifestyle and outdoor activities to KAIST students, who spend most of their time indoors and are likely to neglect their health. This year was the third Happy Campus Campaign to be held in the fall semester, and a total of more than 500 students had participated in the event so far.

Various programs were offered in Happy Campus Campaign. The Relaxing Campaign, which is one of the main programs, focused on the importance of fresh air and sunlight, and provided students with information and guidelines to follow, such as exposure to sunlight for at least 30-minutes and ventilating rooms for three times every day. The campaign emphasized the adverse effects of poorly ventilated rooms and lack of vitamin D from sunlight on the respiratory system and the degree of concentration. Students participated in quizzes on ventilation and sunlight to increase their awareness on the subjects.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Program was also provided to help students learn how to perform CPR in case of emergencies. A number of faculty members from Daejeon Bukbu Fire Station and student nurses from the Department of Nursing at Eulji University visited the campus to give students a one-on-one education on CPR. Meanwhile in the Anti-smoking Campaign, students also took part in quizzes on smoking, measured the level of carbon monoxide in their body, and tested their dependency on nicotine.

The campaign received many positive feedbacks from students and will again be available on September 25, outside the Sports Complex Building towards the sports field, from 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm. For more information, contact the Health Care Center at 042-350-4817.
