After months of renovation, the Academic Registrar’s Team re-opened for the 2013 fall semester. Located in the Creative Learning Building (E11), the Academic Registrar’s Team is arguably one of the busiest administrative departments in KAIST during the beginning of each semester. The redesigned office employs a user-friendly atmosphere, and after the completely overhauled renovation, provides students with an accessible environment and a flexible administrative process.

The principal emphasis of the newly designed office is accessibility. Previously, the office was located next to the back entrance of the Creative Learning Building. The new office, now located at the center of the first floor, can also be accessed by another door in the Creative International Lounge.

While the previous office was not unlike any other administrative office in KAIST, the new Academic Registrar’s Team was revamped to resemble more a commercial bank. Prior to the renovation, each student had to navigate through a long column of cubicles to find adequate assistance. In the new office, every worker’s desk face the main door in a circular fashion, rendering each worker to be much more accessible than before.

Another emphasis is flexibility. Among several long-term goals for the Academic Registrar’s Team, a key emphasis has been put into simplification of administrative processes. While strictly adhering to the regulations enforced by KAIST, the Academic Registrar’s Team intends to focus on granting students as much bureaucratic flexibility as possible.

Numerous improvements in interior design were implemented. Among those was a noticeable increase in ambient lighting. Sofas and computer terminals were also installed and are available for student usage. A large table containing various forms and documents is also located at the center of the office.
