On March 29, the 2013 School Farm program was officially launched. A total of 77 teams from the KAIST community are now able to cultivate any crops of their choice on their farmland for a year.The farmland provided by KAIST is located behind Sejong Hall (E8). The total size of the farmland is 1,400 square meters.

Every year the Admissions Office sends officers abroad to promote and increase awareness of KAIST. This spring, there have been two scheduled trips to Turkey and to Vietnam, each with a different purpose. From late March to early April, the first trip was to nine high schools in four cities in Turkey (Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, and Ankara).

A group of KAIST students have gathered to make a parody of the film Les Miserable, a big hit during the 2012-2013 winter holiday season. Till now, there have been several parodies that were created in Korea, of which the one created by the Republic of Korea Air Force was the most popular. Called “Les Militaribles,” the YouTube video got over 4.5 million views.

On April 5, nationwide tree planting campaigns took place everywhere in honor of Arbor Day. In cooperation with the Korea Forest Service, communities and villages worked to plant millions of saplings in local neighborhoods and in the countryside. KAIST also participated in the campaign by holding a 2013 Tree Planting event on campus.

KAIST’s College of Business will establish the Silicon Valley Innovation Platform (SVIP) to help prospective young startup founders and their venture companies do business in the United States. The college will cooperate with the US Market Access Center (US MAC) and provide offices and mentoring services by its professors for the companies.

On March 22, the Best Paper Award Ceremony for Fall 2012 was held in the International Conference Room of the School of Humanities and Social Science Building (N4).
